Who is it suitable for?
This course is suitable for anyone supporting children and adults with the development of maths skills, who want to understand factors affecting maths learning. The course will explore in greater depth, the underlying skills that underpin maths development, build an understanding of dyscalculia and maths difficulties. Participants will also learn about the 鈥淐PA鈥 method and how it supports learning in maths.
Learning Aims
- This course will explore what can cause children and adults to struggle with maths and identify what is the difference between maths learning difficulties, maths anxiety and dyscalculia.
- The course will introduce the definitions of dyscalculia and theories underpinning our understanding of where maths difficulties originate from.
- To learn how to identify individuals鈥 maths difficulties and use effective strategies to support them in the classroom and workplace including using CPA and multisensory approaches to make learning maths enjoyable and reduce maths anxiety.
This course can lead to an OCN Level 2 Accreditation.
